Jan 12, 2014 Day hike on Mescal trail, AZ

The sun was shinning bright with the Temperature around +20C as four members of the Westman Wilderness Club hike Mescal hiking trail in Sedona, Arizona.
Bill, Carol, Janis and Alf set off at 11:30 a.m on one of the most beautiful trails in the area. Although we would grade thus trail as an easy trail it does have several inclines, narrow drop offs and rocky areas. The vistas are amazing with views of Doe Mountain, Bear mountain, Faye Canyon and Boynton Canyon. We met and were passed by many bikers who were all very curtious and thank us for stepping off the trail to give them the right of way. We also met  three people from Phoenix and Washington state who were enjoying their lunch in the sun enjoying the view for miles below. About half way through the hike we stopped for lunch and a rest while Bill scrambled up the side of the mountain to a cave. The vertical height was about 100 feet. With tired legs we arrived back at our resort thirsting for a cool drink.
