Saturday, April 25- Adventure Smart Training

The goal of this session is to provide information in a classroom setting to club members on how to prepare for outdoor adventures including:  trip planning, training for the skills needed for that event and taking the essentials to mitigate the risks.  Following that we will move outdoors for a session on practical skill building including fire starting, shelter building and the importance of proper dress for the weather.  This session is to be facilitated by Dennis and Brian (who are also members of Brandon Regional Search and Rescue Association) following the Adventure Smart, Survive Outside program. The session location will be determined soon and communicated to club members.

June 13 – Bald Hill Hike

Hike to Bald Hill via the J.E.T. trail in Riding Mountain National Park with James. The route will include the loop around Reeve’s Ravine. 14km of moderate to difficult trails. Contact James at JBurr@mtsmail.ca for details and for signup.

Friday, June 26 – Slater Lake Canoe/Kayak Event

Kelly & Michele are hosting this event- it is an hour and 20 minutes north of Brandon. 

You will need to portage your canoe/kayak through a trail in the bush for about 75 yards so make sure to bring mosquito repellent. For those interested we thought we could go into Clearlake for dinner that evening at the 1929 restaurant.
